Take those extra STEPS to achieving your goals, now winter is upon us
After weeks of facing the scorching Dubai sun, the winter is finally upon the horizon. All the excuses made for avoiding the treadmill or taking those much needed extra steps, will no longer work.
As a coach I look to oversee a change of lifestyle approach for my clients. When I moved to Dubai in January of this year, I was shocked at at the lack of even the most basic of activity.
I go around telling my clients to aim for 10,000 steps each say, but the culture is not one that promotes walking. Then when the summer hit, all the excuses to avoid being outside came out. Those that wanted to move more could walk on the treadmill, but for some it was just not the most exciting prospect. Those that took on the challenge, have walked and even danced around the house. It might seem like a big challenge, but really to me it is a basic fundamental of any program.
What are the reasons for taking this extra activity? If you want to get fit, you need to have a basic level of fitness. The saying walk before you run applies here. If you want to lose body fat and change body composition, then you will find it harder to do so by sitting down all day and only moving to get to the car. Additionally, it is a way to de stress physically, mentally and potentially recover from all the tough training sessions.
