Brian’s story is one of inspiration, determination, motivation but mostly commitment and a lot of hard work!
Brian has been training with YourGym Private Trainer, Paul for almost 3 months now but his story begins a little earlier…
The reality and concern for his health, fitness and general well being came after seeing a picture that was taken at a family celebration back on the 14th July 2016. Brian knew he had to lose weight.
At that time Brian was 141.6kg and set himself a goal to reach 100kg in time for his sons wedding in just over a year on the 30th July 2017. A realistic goal but one requiring a complete change of direction.
In the past 5 months since making the self imposed commitment Brian has reached 123.2kg and has set a “Mini Milestone” to nudge under 120kg by Christmas.
Brian’s commitment to his training regime is commendable to say the least, as a Personal Trainer I am always encouraging my clients to give their all to each of our sessions, in Brian’s case he does that and then some…
His willingness to try different exercises and techniques that take him well outside his comfort zone are met with enthusiasm and pure grit and determination. I tell Brian, as I do all my clients, this is what gets me out of bed every day, this is why I do what I do!
I applaud Brian on setting himself this goal and I know that together we will reach it, to such a point that even as Father of the Groom he may need to wear a name tag at the wedding so that family and friends that haven’t seen him for a year or more will recognise him.
As wonderful and motivating as Brian’s initial goal was and I’m sure his son will thank him in years to come when they look back on their wedding pictures, this has now become so more than just about the wedding. This is Brian’s new “way of life”.
Brian is noticing everyday tasks becoming easy or in some cases possible whereas they weren’t before. Getting in and out of the car, putting his socks on while standing, sitting on the floor cross-legged. Little things most people take for granted are having such a positive impact on Brian’s life.
Exercise, nutritious eating and an active lifestyle are a part of Brian’s each and every day now, to such a point that his wife, Tanya has now joined the YourGym community and started training with Paul also. Tanya’s goals are different to Brian’s. Her focus is more about fitness, toning and general well-being, together they are inspiring and have set themselves on the road to a healthier, fitter and in turn happier life. I’m sure they will be both grateful for this when they are chasing around their potential grandchildren!

Having made a commitment to weight loss I needed some high quality support to help me. Numerous attempts on diet alone and without a personal trainer had failed and I worked on the basis that I needed to radically change some things. If I was paying for help I also wanted value and results. YourGym and Florian were highly recommended to me and we met to discuss the objectives and outcomes I was looking for; weight loss, fitness and flexibility
Florian was great, listened well and gave good advice.
I was introduced to Paul the next day, we met, discussed what I wanted to achieve and had a trial session. Paul has been fabulous. Stretching me in many ways. His humour, encouragement, attention to detail and passion shine through every day. He is a pleasure to work with, no easy days and the results are great.
The combination of healthy eating and exercise and virtually no alcohol has seen over 18kg now lost and I cannot remember being this fit for very many years. The extent of improvement in flexibility has been a great surprise. The combination of Florian understanding my needs, identifying Paul to help me, along with Paul's expertise has delivered great results. Thank you both. The journey has begun.... we are on our way!
