With the new year fast approaching it is a good time to assess your goals and look at how to go about tackling them. We have already looked at getting out of the comfort zone. Once you have taken that step, you need to make sure you have ways of setting, then achieving goals to stay out of it.
At Your Gym we always promote consistency, as it is consistency that dictates how quickly you achieve goals. The more you put in and outside of sessions, the more success you have.
Your overall goal might be to lose x amount of weight or lift x amount in the gym. It is important not to get hung up on these too much. They will stay in the background. Set little goals on the way, which in turn should be realistic and achievable. How much weight and body fat have you lost after 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks and so forth. You might have lost 5 pounds in 4 weeks, but that won't always happen so set weekly targets. Your goal could be to increase the amount of chin ups you can do. In this case, mini goals such as increasing the amount of time you can hold at the top of the movement will help add extra reps.
Progress will not always be linear, but by setting achievable goals along the way, following a plan and then tracking results. You will go a long way to achieving success.
